Samsung SDI Technology: a high-quality battery

All our electric folding bikes use high-quality batteries with Samsung SDI technology. We chose this technology for its reliability, long service life, and stable performance over many charging cycles. In practice, that means dependable day-to-day use and a battery designed to last for years under normal use.

As a nice extra, the batteries of the FOLT Voyage, Classic, and Maxx also have a USB port. This allows you to charge small devices, such as your smartphone, directly from the bike when needed.

Example charging cost: about €0.09

Charging costs are a practical question for every e-bike rider. The exact amount depends on your battery size and electricity tariff, but the calculation is simple. Below, we explain how battery capacity works and how to estimate the cost of a full charge.

Battery capacity

To estimate the electricity cost of a full charge, start with the battery capacity. Battery capacity is usually expressed in watt-hours (Wh). You calculate it by multiplying voltage (V) by ampere-hours (Ah).

The calculation

For example, the FOLT 200 battery operates at 36 V and 10.4 Ah. The calculation looks like this: 36 x 10.4 = 374.4 Wh.

As an example, assume an electricity rate of €0.25 per kilowatt-hour (kWh). One kWh equals 1000 Wh. Charging a 374.4 Wh FOLT battery from empty to full then costs 0.25 x 374.4 / 1000 = €0.09.

For a full charge, that is a relatively small cost for many kilometres of riding.

Battery replacement costs

Like any lithium-ion battery, an e-bike battery is a wear part. Its lifespan depends on factors such as temperature, charging habits, storage, and how often you ride. With normal use, however, a quality battery should last for years.

If you ever do need a replacement, it helps to look beyond the purchase price alone. Availability, compatibility, cell quality, and after-sales support are just as important as the cost of the battery itself.

For our electric folding bikes, replacement batteries remain available separately. That helps you keep using your bike for longer instead of replacing the entire bike when the battery eventually wears out.
